Travel Information
Getting to the Conference Venue:
The conference will take place at the Reitoria da Universidade do Porto, Praça de Gomes Teixeira, located in Downtown Porto.
From Porto Airport (Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport – OPO)
The easiest and most affordable way to reach the city center from the airport is by metro.
Option 1: Metro
Take the Metro Line E (Purple Line and the only line passing through the airport) directly from the airport station, which is located just outside the terminal. Trains run approximately every 15 minutes and the journey to the city center takes about 25–30 minutes. You can either pay directly at the ticket validation machine or buy a Z4 card at the respective machines inside the metro station. This card can be recharged for future use.
After that you have two convenient options:
Exit at Trindade Station (the main metro hub in Porto). From there, it is about a 15 minute (uphill) walk to the Reitoria area.
Alternatively, from Trindade you can take a short bus ride toward the venue location and get off near Praça de Gomes Teixeira / Igreja do Carmo, which is right next to the Reitoria. Buses 201, 208, and 501 all stop directly at Praça do Carmo.
Your Z4 card is valid for one hour meaning you bus ride is included (don’t forget to scan it again)
Option 2: Taxi or Ride-Hailing (Uber/Bolt)
Uber or Bolt are common, safe and often the cheapest way to travel by private transport. Taxis and ride-hailing services such as Uber and Bolt are readily available at the airport. A ride to the Reitoria area typically takes 20–25 minutes, depending on traffic, and costs roughly €18–€30.
From Campanhã Station (Train or Long-Distance Bus)
If you arrive in Porto by train or bus, you will most likely arrive at Campanhã Station.
Option 1: Metro
From Campanhã Metro Station, take any line in direction, Senhor de Matosinhos, Aeroporto, Senhora da Hora. You will need to either scan your card at the validation machine or buy a Z3 ticket at the metro stop.
Exit at Trindade station. From there, it is about a 10–15 minute walk uphill to the Reitoria area.
Option 2: Taxi or Ride-Hailing
Taxis, Uber, and Bolt are also easily available outside Campanhã Station. The trip to the Reitoria area usually takes 10–15 minutes depending on traffic and should cost you 10-15€
